The ceremony, which was held on the occasion of the ‘Potato Day’, which has now become a traditional day, Pestova Company, in addition to highest government level, also attended local leaders, businessmen, Mangers of the country’s banks etc. Pestova is really a good example, an example that I as prime minister, always pick as an example of successful businesses when I speak about agriculture and agricultural potential of Kosovo with international factors. Indeed thanks to the courage, knowledge, willingness and professionalism of  Bedri and Kasumi family, Pestova today has become a known of familiar place in Kosovo and abroad, said Prime Minister Çeku. Prime Minister, took as an example, when two days ago the Unity Team during a visit to London, held a meeting in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in order to encourage the bank to invest in Kosovo and support Kosovo businesses. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Tom Hajdaraj, said that Pestova Company’s experience proves that Kosovo and its farmers want, know and can work and live by ‘their sweat’. A DELEGATION OF THE EURO-MPS HEADED BY DORIS PACK VISIT PESTOVA

“Pestova” Company, which deals with potatoes production, potato chips and French fries (pomfret) welcomed yesterday in a visit, 18 euro-MPS from Strasbourg, accompanied by the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and chaired by Euro-MP Doris Pack, which said that the European Union is paying special importance to agriculture or farming. According to Euro-MP Pack, there is needed a lot of work to be done for development of the economy, but it is not unattainable.
“I think that this is a wonderful plant, and they have chosen to work, and it can function with a little help and I am very pleased with what I can see in here,” said Pack. According to her, the European Parliament is particularly much focused on agriculture and rural development.
“I think that this is something from what Kosovo can benefit much more then until now. I felt uncomfortable when I had breakfast today with foreign products, with German butter and Bulgarian honey, because I think that you can produce yourselves all of these. “said Euro-MP Pack.
She stressed that the political problems that are hindering farmers are evident, but according to her even in the situation as this, there can still be find some room to work..
“The resolution of Kosovo's status should affect Kosovo producers to be equal to other farmers in the region. This is an unnatural situation and I believe that these problems will be surmounted with the status. But even in this surrounding there should be found opportunities, and this is achievable by taking as an example this particular farmer, “said Pack, after visiting the potato chips factory in Pestova village of Vushtrri municipality.
Euro-MPs initially developed an introductory meeting with Company’s representatives on order to se e closely its development and support of the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR).
Doris Pack is interested to know about how the owner of “Pestova”, Bedri Kasumi, which produces “Vipa” potato chips and some other potato products, started operating, the obstacles which he has encountered during the 90s and about how he restarted in 1999.
She is also interested in whether this Company has cooperation even with farmers outside Vushtrri and minority farmers. “With all those who are living here have, we cooperate, because potato has no nationality”, replied the owner, Bedri Kasumi.
He said that after a long period of work they finally managed to export potato.
“Naturally, we are not completely satisfied”.
We have some problems such as electrical power, but I think we are on the right track to be successful processors if we work hard like this, because all these results have been achieved after the war, “said Kasumi”. We hope that in the future we will have better working conditions, or at least equal to the producers abroad who are selling their products in Kosovo”, stressed the farmer, Kasumi.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Tome Hajdaraj, has estimated that agriculture is in a good track, although it is creating this reputation by its own forces. “The presence of these people from the European Parliament leaves an impression that this step is encouraging to all farmers” Hajdaraj added.
Pestova is announced Top enterprise by the Ministry of Industry and Economy, and by Small and Medium enterprises Support Agency (SMESA).
